Before you consider buying an American Shorthair, read the following:
- Do you have enough space in your house for you cat to roam around
- Do you leave the house a lot? Do you want it to have another companion? if you do make sure it interacts with your cat well, other quiet cats are recommended.
- Do you have a safe area for him/her to live in? Including a secure working window?(or your cat might fall through the window)
- Do you want to adopt? It would help with the over population
What are the necessary materials for your cat:

Some Sort of ID
- There are laws on this too, he/she can have a tag but it is very strongly recommended that it gets the microchip because if your pet is lost it can easily be identified.
What do you do now?
Always make sure you have enough time to play with your cat everyday so it won't get bored. Exercise it regularly and groom it regularly. Also go to your vet and schedule for regular checkups. Remember always follow the laws and keep your cat inside if you are not anywhere near it. You might consider if you want to spray or neuter it to prevent overpopulation. Give your cat a balanced diet and you can always ask your vet for advise. Basically treat your cat with love and patience. =D
